A cottage group
Arts and Crafts cottages built as one group under one long tiled roof, with half-timbered forward gables, leaded casements, door hoods, tall chimneys and front gardens behind hedges. This was the unit of Unwin’s and Parker’s garden cities.
The rules it illustrates
Twelve houses to the acre. Build no more than about twelve houses to the acre, in groups rather than endless rows, each with a front garden and a long back garden; the saving on roads pays for the extra land.
