The rules it illustrates

The stupa: a solid mound with a crown. Build the stupa as a solid hemispherical mound (anda) over relics, on a circular terrace (medhi), and crown it with a railed enclosure (harmika) and a mast of parasols (chattra).

Walk round clockwise. Provide a path for circumambulation (pradakshina) in the clockwise direction, keeping the sacred object on the right, and enclose it with a railing that separates the sacred ground.

Four gateways at the cardinal points. Open the railing at the four cardinal points and mark each opening with a torana: two posts carrying three curved architraves with scrolled ends, crowned with Buddhist emblems.
